Grano Competitor Analysis

Grano's food, reviews and press stand up to any café nearby. On Google, it is missing from the places where new customers choose a café. This report shows who wins those searches, what that costs Grano, and where Grano would stand with its website and Google profile fixed.

Top-3 Google Maps spots held across 12 café searches
In short

Customers love Grano. Google sends them elsewhere.

Who gets found instead

Who holds the top three spots

We searched Google Maps the way a customer would, with the map centred on Grano. The first three cafés in each list are the ones most people tap, and they are also the three Google shows in the map box of its normal search results. Twelve searches give 36 of these spots. In BrightLocal's click study, the map box alone took 32.3% of all clicks on a local results page.

The other six spots went to six different cafés, one each. Sponsored listings were left out of the count. In Google's normal search results, the map box for cafe in jubilee hills showed Sky Salt, Lillie's and Cravery, and for garden cafe in hyderabad it showed Urban Nemo and SAGE. Grano didn't appear in either.

Today vs. with good SEO

Where Grano ranks now, and where it can get to

Each row is one search. The red marker is Grano's position on Google Maps today. The green bar is a realistic target within 3 to 6 months of fixing the website and the Google profile.

Targets are estimates based on what the cafés above Grano have that Grano lacks today. City-wide searches such as specialty coffee hyderabad get a looser target because Roastery (15,450 reviews) and Third Wave lead them.

Google Business Profiles

Grano's profile against the cafés around it

All of the cafés that matter sit well inside the 10 km area: the 11 we profiled are within 3.1 km, and three are within 400 m. Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence (how well known a place is). Grano sits in the middle of this cluster and its reviews are strong. Relevance is where it loses: Google isn't told what kind of café Grano is.

* From the newest 60 to 130 reviews on each profile, covering roughly the last 2 to 5 weeks. A dash means we didn't sample that profile. Distances are straight-line from Grano.

Nobody nearby answers their reviews Sky Salt, Daak, Conçu and Cravery answered none of their recent reviews. SAGE answered 8 of 110. Grano used to reply to reviews and has since stopped. Picking that back up is the cheapest way for Grano to stand apart from every café on this list.
Websites

The website race is open

Five of the 11 rival cafés have no website of their own, and one more is down. The rest have basic sites, but each of them sends Google readable text. Grano's site is the only one that arrives blank.

Speed figures are Google PageSpeed Insights mobile tests run on 18 October 2026 (Roastery measured on its Hyderabad page). Google treats a main image that shows after 2.5 seconds as poor.

Café websites do rank here Theory's simple site is 6th in Google's normal results for cafe in jubilee hills, behind only Tripadvisor, Instagram, Zomato and EazyDiner. Roastery's Hyderabad page is 5th for specialty coffee in hyderabad. A fast, readable granocoffee.in with a page for each occasion would compete for these places, and none of the cafés within 400 m could follow.
Seen "SEO 100" in PageSpeed Insights? That test waits for the JavaScript to finish and then checks only basics, such as whether a title exists. It doesn't check that every page shares one title, that business data is missing, or that AI assistants and link previews get a blank page. Google's own index holds just 7 Grano pages, all with near-identical titles.

Business impact

What this is costing Grano

Regulars search for Grano by name and find it. The losses are new customers, who search for a kind of café rather than a name.

6 of 12searches

New customers are sent next door

On searches like garden café, brunch and birthday party, Grano isn't in the top 20. Those people are sent to SAGE, Sky Salt and Urban Nemo, all within about a kilometre. In Google's research, 76% of people who search for something nearby on their phone visit a related business within a day.

3 of 12searches

A neighbour is buying the spot above Grano

SAGE Farm Cafe, 280 m away, ran Google Ads on 3 of our 12 searches, including a plain "cafe" search on Grano's own street. Grano can win the free places below those ads with a stronger profile.

3rdfor its own name

Apps get Grano's own searches

For "grano cafe jubilee hills", Zomato and Instagram rank above the website. Every table booked or order placed through an app instead of directly costs Grano a platform fee.

64.7 smain image

Website visitors leave before it loads

Google found 53% of mobile visitors leave a page that takes longer than 3 seconds. Most people who tap "Website" on Grano's profile will give up before they see the menu.

99%unanswered

Silence shapes the first impression

Google's summary at the top of the reviews mentions slow service, and 48% of people read that summary first. With no replies, nothing shows that the team listens.

5thfor its old name

Former regulars can't find the new name

People who still search for L'Affaire see other cafés first on Google Maps and outdated pages in Google Search. Some will assume the café closed.

What extra tables are worth

Press no rival nearby hasThe Hindu, News18 and Siasat, including garden-café and pet-friendly lists.
Location isn't the problemSAGE (280 m) and Urban Nemo (390 m) win these searches from almost the same spot. Grano is also open till 1 am every day.
Weak competitor websitesFive rivals have no website, one site is down, and the rest have no business data for Google.
Plan

What to do, in order

Google profileWeeks 1–2
  • Reply to every review from the last three months, then to each new one within two days
  • Write the business description: garden café, specialty coffee, pet-friendly, open till 1 am, Road 63A Jubilee Hills, formerly L'Affaire Cafe & Bistro
  • Add Coffee shop, Breakfast restaurant and Brunch restaurant as extra categories, and check every attribute
  • Set holiday hours and use the same hours on the profile, website, Zomato and Swiggy
  • Post every week: events, new dishes, the garden in the evening
  • Rename the old L'Affaire listings on Justdial and magicpin
WebsiteWeeks 2–6
  • Make the 8 pages readable to Google and compress the photos (details in the Grano Website Audit)
  • Give each page its own title, add the business data block, sitemap and a real "page not found"
  • Add pages for garden café, pet-friendly visits, breakfast and brunch, birthdays and private parties, and events
  • Fix the "0★" counter, placeholder text, dead blog cards and link previews
ReputationMonths 2–6
  • Ask every guest for a Google review without offering anything in return. Reviews that mention the garden, pets or brunch help Grano show for those searches
  • Ask The Hindu, News18 and Siasat to link their articles to granocoffee.in, and pitch the lists that rank (District, LBB, Tripadvisor)
  • Track monthly: Maps position for these 12 searches, plus calls, direction requests, website clicks and direct bookings from the profile
